Scan a coin
AI-powered coin recognition in seconds
How scanning works
- Take or upload a photo — Click the upload zone and select a photo of your coin. You can also use the camera directly on mobile devices.
- AI analysis — The AI analyzes your image and identifies the coin. This usually takes less than 5 seconds.
- Review results — You will see: country, name, mint year, material, weight, diameter, condition grade, and estimated market value (range).
- Add to collection — Everything correct? Click "Add to collection". You can also edit the data beforehand.
Tips for best recognition
- Use even, bright lighting
- Place the coin on a neutral background
- Photograph straight-on, not at an angle
- Capture both sides (obverse and reverse) for better recognition
- Close-up — the coin should fill most of the frame
Duplicate detection
When you scan a coin that already exists in your collection, CoinScan shows a duplicate alert. This prevents accidental double entries. You can still add the coin if you actually own it multiple times.
